Fall Anime Season: Impressions So Far

Hayate the Combat Butler! Can’t Take My Eyes Off You

A rather very boring and underwhelming debut compared to the previous seasons. I don’t know how many times I’ve yawned in this first episode but it’s pretty much a same plot scenario as the first show where Nagi gets kidnapped again by random thugs. None of the other characters have been reintroduced outside of Nagi’s mansion. Not even Tama!

Plans to watch: Poor

Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun

Shoujo animes has had a long tradition of being hit or miss in my eyes but this series has me sold. It has a familiar feeling to Maid-sama which I thoroughly enjoyed. We have an interesting setup here with girl named Mizutani who’s so focused on her studies and doesn’t care about anything else. That day changes when her teacher makes her deliver study guides to guy named Haru, who’s been suspended due to beating up other students. It turns out that Haru is a genius delinquent. Haru takes a liking towards her because of his loneliness but Mizutani couldn’t accept the humiliation that he’s top ranked in test scores so she sees him as a rival. After knowing more about his life, she begins to feel a change.

Plans to watch: Established

Code Geass: Akito the Exiled

Not impressed. When Code Geass ended, it ENDED for me. This OVA takes place in between the 2 seasons. I was never anticipating for a new Code Geass anime because I was so done with that franchise, but since it’s the only legit mecha anime that’s in the new season, it’s worth the watch. Don’t expect anything amazing out of this by the first ep.

Plans to watch: Decent
