WOW… This really made my day. I am so tempted to just book a flight to Japan to watch this premiere in theaters. I have just enough frequent flyer miles to do it, too.

Oh, one more thing, not sure if you saw it, but it was on Anime News Network. Tomino is up to a new project. It’s going to be announced on September 10. Tomino hinted in March that he was going to do something new with Ideon…

Yep I’ve read about it. I’m not very optimistic about Ideon but we’ll see. Hopefully he doesn’t die from stressing out.

Yeah, I know I shouldn’t get my hopes up, since his hyped “return to Gundam” was a nonsensical 2 minute short.

Although an Ideon reboot could be a winning formula. It’s pretty much Battlestar Galactica with mecha. If Ideon was more popular, I would have thought the new BSG had stolen some ideas from it. Which would be fair because I think Tomino did draw inspiration from the original BSG.

The following paragraph describes both Ideon and BSG.

Humanity encounters an alien force that tries to wipe them out, except for a single ship that manages to get away and has to fight against overwhelming odds to survive the vast enemy force. The humans are surprised to find out that the enemies look human. One of the enemy infiltrates and unexpectedly falls in love with one of the humans. Their child ends up being heralded as humanity’s savior. A mysterious and powerful force guides the humans and their enemies to their fates.
